Have you ever stayed in a tall hotel with a great view of Kuala Lumpur? Have you noticed the trains down there, moving slowly? Well, that's exactly what this blog post is about.

The KL Monorail Line is one of the operational monorails in Malaysia. It is part of the RapidKL system, operated by Rapid Rail, a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia. It is one of the components that make up the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System. The line is numbered 8 and coloured light green on official transit maps. (Refer here)
The KL Monorail serves as a commuter-friendly transport system that runs on elevated tracks in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, connecting the KL Sentral transit hub and Titiwangsa station in the south with Bukit Bintang in the north and surrounding commercial and entertainment hubs. In January 1990, Kuala Lumpur City Hall announced that it would construct a monorail system that would run through the city's commercial district. The cost for the project was estimated at RM 143 million. The first phase of the monorail system was expected to be completed within two years. After the city's mayor made

complaints that the offers submitted for initial work were too high, the project's opening date ended up moving from June 1990 to May 1991. Ever since then, there hasn't been any activity on the project, and there are few details on how it is envisioned to develop. The project's key contractor is a local company titled BNK, which had difficulty finding financiers to continue to fund its share of the venture owing to its increasing budget numbers and lack of preceding expertise involved in managing such major projects.
